Calypso Cove Water Park

About Us - Calypso Cove Water Park

About Us

Calypso Cove opened in 2012 on the site of the former Space Adventure waterpark housed in the Metrodome Leisure Complex. It has an island adventure theme and is home to numerous pirates and their feathery shipmates.

The waterpark was themed by 3D Creations who worked on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean, and features a bespoke 9ft skull that had to be transported in pieces then reassembled in the waterpark.

Also within the waterpark is The Hideout diner on poolside, with a distinct piratey feel and the stocks for wayward children!

Calypso Cove is managed by BPL who operate a diverse mix of sport and leisure facilities across Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Doncaster and Pontefract.

“Great for younger ones”

Situated at the top of Queen's road near the Football ground, two pools one more or less for the family, the other for anyone just wanting a swim. Has a very good restaurant, reasonable prices and decent beer. Loads of other activities going on in the complex, there is also a Bowling alley with comfortable seating and a bar. It has a function room that you can book, also at Xmas there are usually special nights that you can book for your works do or just go with your mates.

“We would definitely go again!”

We have just returned from Barnsley Metrodome Calypso Cove.
We travelled from Chesterfield in Derbyshire which took 50 mins there and back but it was definitely worth the drive.
