How do I get to Calypso Cove?

Calypso Cove is located in the Metrodome Leisure Complex at the top of Queens Road, Barnsley, S71 1AN. It is just 5 minutes walk from the Barnsley Interchange (for bus and rail links). It is approximately ten minutes drive from junction 37 of the M1 – follow the brown signs for ‘Metrodome.’

What is your admissions policy?

Under 4's: One adult can accompany one child with no buoyancy aids. One adult can accompany two children when both are wearing buoyancy aids.

4 - 7 Year Olds: One adult can accompany two children with or without buoyancy aids.

Mixed Ages (Under 4's & 4 - 7 Year Olds): One adult can accompany two children if both children are wearing buoyancy aids, or if the eldest can swim 50m unassisted. 

How much are babies and toddlers?

It is £1.60 for children aged 2 years and under. A swim nappy is included in this price.

Can I spectate?

Yes, it is possible to spectate from The Hideout on poolside and from our balcony located above the pools, depending on opening times. It is also possible to spectate from The Rigby Cafe Lounge, again depending on opening times. Visitors are also welcome to spectate from the Crows Nest party area.

What is the time restriction for the waterpark?

Tickets are available for 1.5 hours or 3 hours in the waterpark. You will be issued with a coloured band at Reception and must exit the pool when your band is called out.

What is a Priority Ticket?

A Priority Ticket allows you to use the Priority Queue on the left of Reception. This queue is shorter in length and reduces your queuing times as compared to the standard ticket queues. Priority Tickets do not grant fast track access to the slides and rides once inside the waterpark. Priority tickets must also be purchased at least 24 hours prior to your visit.

Do you have disabled access?

Yes, the Metrodome Leisure Complex has a lift to the lower concourse as well as disabled toilets and changing rooms. If you would like assistance with any specific needs please contact us on 01226 730060 or speak to a member of staff on site who will be happy to help.

Do I have to be a strong swimmer to enjoy Calypso Cove?

No, Calypso Cove is suitable for people of all ages and abilities, although the following restrictions apply: you must be at least 1.2m tall and able to swim 50m to ride Eruption; you must be able to swim 50m to use the diving boards.

Can I buy food & drink at Calypso Cove?

Yes we have a range of food and drink options (including meal deals, hot and alcoholic drinks) available to buy from The Hideout on poolside. The Metrodome also has Rigby’s Restaurant on the first floor and food and drink is available from Metrodome Bowling.

Do you do children’s parties & private hire?

Yes, we've just opened the brand new CROWS NEST party area! We offer party packages and private hire and also run our own seasonal ticketed pool parties. For more information please visit our Pool Parties page.

Do you have lockers & how much are they?

The Changing Village has lockers that are operated with a £1 coin that is refunded at the end of use.

Can you buy swimming costumes and goggles on site?

Yes we stock a range of costumes, goggles, floats and armbands available to purchase on site.

Do I need to pay for parking?

No, the Metrodome Leisure Complex has free parking for customers.

Is Calypso Cove free for members?

Yes, Fitness Flex and MAXx members get unlimited access to all public swim sessions. You can find out more about becoming a member at bpl.org.uk
